TankThoughts is on hiatus. While we are still dedicated to aggregating, synthesizing and producing high-quality foreign policy related materials, work and personal obligations have left us unable to continue updating TankThoughts as frequently as we would like. We will do our best to maintain a social media presence, update our weekly calendar and produce the occasional write-up, however, cannot make an guarantees. We hope to be back to producing more policy-related content in the near future.
Thank you for your support and understanding.

TankThoughts is founded and run by William Houstoun, a DC local and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Pitt in 2012, William traveled throughout the Middle East and East Asia, where he attended a variety of religious, economic, and politically focussed conferences and seminars. It was during this trip that William realized the irreplaceable, educational value that comes through direct experiences with foreign cultures and ideas. It was through this realization that TankThoughts was born.
By aggregating the opinions and analysis of vetted policymakers and leaders – who in turn root their opinions in their own experiences in foreign and domestic policy – TankThoughts is committed to providing concise and objective coverage of important policy discussions happening within the Washington, DC area (except Capitol Hill). By focussing primarily on think tanks, we try to provide our readers with direct access to the opinions, ideas, and experiences of the world’s past, present, and future policy leaders. We are not trying to score political points, but hope to give a voice to those institutions and individuals who are dedicated to intellectual progress through discussion, cooperation, and the open exchange of ideas.
